30TH CEI CONFERENCE AALBORG DENMARK
On 27th June 2016, the 30th International
Conference of CARETAKERS OF THE ENVIRONMENT INTERNATIONAL started in Aalborg, the
fourth largest city of Denmark, and lasted 7 days with a great number of
participants, students and teachers, from all over the world.
The 30th anniversary conference theme was “Sustainable societies” and all students presented
their projects, related to environmental issues in the context of education, on
which they had been working on during the school year 2015-16.
The Greek branch participated with 6 delegates, 4 students (Eleftheria
Vlachou /12th Senior High School of Thessaloniki, George Kontogoulidis,
Theofilos Kevezitidis, Andromachi Kontogoulidou), 2 teachers (John Papoutsakis /12th
Senior High School of Thessaloniki and Niovi Iliadou, member of Caretakers-Greece).
The topic of the Greek delegation project was, “SUSTAINABLE URBAN
MOBILITY (SUM) How to make our life easier in Thessaloniki” and it was carried
out in cooperation with the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas/Hellenic
Institute of Transport (HERTH/HIT). The Greek delegates also participated in
the food and fun market with Greek delicacies
and the cultural evening with a Greek
folk dance.
While attending the conference the delegates enjoyed a visit to the zoo and
the Vikings Museum a well as a guided tour of the city of Aalborg. In addition,
they were taken on a field trip to sustainable/renewable power plants, a
windmill park and an organic farm.
The 30th CEI Conference in Denmark was a great experience for
the Greek delegation!
